You can visit Jeju without renting a car, but the trip works best when you choose a base and build each day around one area. A coast-to-coast itinerary with scattered stops can mean long waits and transfers.

Choose a base first
Jeju City can suit airport access and northern stops; Seogwipo can suit southern routes. For a short trip, choose one side rather than circling the island. Changing hotels may reduce some rides but adds packing and check-in time.

Group stops along a corridor
VISITKOREA’s east-coast itinerary describes public bus travel and identifies bus 201 between Jeju City Bus Terminal and Seogwipo City Bus Terminal. This is a planning example, not a promise that every attraction is close to a stop. Search each place in a current map, then check transfers, walking distance, and the last return service.
- Use Korean place names when English map results are unclear.
- Keep nearby backup stops in case weather or long waits change the plan.
- For remote inland places, compare a taxi or day tour instead of stacking buses.
When a car is more convenient
A car can help with remote inland locations or several scattered stops. It is not required for every first visit. Compare rental, fuel, parking, insurance, and pickup time with your route. Our Jeju first-visit guide covers broader planning.
We did not test a live itinerary or departures. Confirm the final bus before heading out.
