When traveling from Seoul to Gyeongju by KTX, plan the arrival transfer along with the train. The station and historic sights are not the same stop, so check your onward ride before choosing a train time.
Quick facts
- Book on KORAIL’s official site and check the exact arrival station name on your ticket — Gyeongju’s station is not next to the historic sights
- Gyeongju city bus: ₩1,500 per adult ride, ₩50 less with a transit card
- With a card, one transfer to a different route is free if you tap off and board within 30 minutes
- Routes 50, 51, 70 and 700 were among those set to serve the station from July 2026 — confirm on Gyeongju LIVE BUS
- KTX sold out? Express buses from Seoul Express Bus Terminal arrive at a Gyeongju bus terminal, not the station
- Last checked: October 25, 2026

Book the correct arrival station
Search the official KORAIL booking site for the station serving Gyeongju. Confirm the exact station name, date, and arrival shown on the final ticket; do not rely only on a city label in a reseller listing.
Plan the last leg before leaving Seoul
Open a current map for your hotel or first destination and compare bus and taxi options from the station. Check route time, transfers, walking distance, and luggage needs. If arriving late, verify the last practical connection.
- Save the hotel address in Korean and English.
- Identify a taxi pickup point as a backup.
- Allow time for luggage and finding the correct stop.
- Keep your first activity flexible if the transfer takes longer.
Bus or taxi from Gyeongju Station?
| Your arrival | Usually simpler | Check before you travel |
|---|---|---|
| Daytime, light bag, hotel or first stop near a bus route | City bus | The route number and stop name for your destination on Gyeongju LIVE BUS or a current map. |
| Large suitcase, small group, or a late train | Taxi | Your hotel address in Korean and the station taxi pickup area. Fares are metered and not quoted here. |
| Going to a sight first, hotel later | Decide after checking luggage | Whether your hotel will hold bags before check-in; otherwise drop luggage first. |
Gyeongju City’s Traffic Information Center lists the city bus fare as ₩1,500 for an adult single ride, ₩50 less with a transit card. With a card, one transfer to a different route is free if you tap off and board within 30 minutes. In July 2026 the city announced that several routes, including 50, 51, 70, and 700, would reach the station via the Gwangmyeong–Hwacheon road (Newsis report, July 9, 2026). Routes and timetables can change again, so confirm the route for your stop on Gyeongju LIVE BUS before relying on it.
If the KTX you want is sold out
VISITKOREA’s express and intercity bus guide (last updated June 5, 2026) lists Gyeongju among routes from Seoul Express Bus Terminal. A bus arrives at a Gyeongju bus terminal, not Gyeongju Station, so redo the last-leg plan for that terminal. For other fallback choices, see our sold-out KTX guide.
This guide focuses on rail arrival from Seoul. For the separate question of visiting from Busan for a day or overnight, see our Gyeongju from Busan comparison.
