7-Day South Korea Itinerary for First-Time Visitors

7-Day South Korea Itinerary for First-Time Visitors

A week is enough to experience a memorable first trip to South Korea without rushing every day. This balanced route combines Seoul, Gyeongju, and Busan.

Days 1–3: Seoul

Stay in a central neighborhood such as Myeongdong, Euljiro, Hongdae, or Insadong. Use the first day for a gentle introduction: walk through a traditional market, visit a palace, and enjoy a Korean barbecue dinner. On day two, explore Bukchon, Gyeongbokgung, and Insadong. On day three, choose between Hongdae and Seongsu for cafes, shopping, and evening energy.

Day 4: Gyeongju

Take the train or bus to Gyeongju. Spend the afternoon around the historic areas, including Daereungwon and Cheomseongdae. Gyeongju is compact, so it works well as an overnight stop for travelers who want history and a slower pace.

Days 5–7: Busan

Travel to Busan and explore Jagalchi Market, Gamcheon Culture Village, Haeundae, or Gwangalli. Leave one half-day flexible for weather. Busan is spread out, so group nearby sights together instead of crossing the city repeatedly.

Practical planning tips

  • Book accommodation near a subway station.
  • Keep one flexible half-day for rain or jet lag.
  • Use an eSIM and a Korean navigation app.
  • Reserve KTX tickets when your dates are fixed.
  • Do not plan more than two major areas in one day.

This itinerary is a starting point, not a rule. Slow it down if you prefer food and cafes, or add Jeju if nature is your priority.
