First steps after landing

Option 1: Airport Railroad (AREX)
Both AREX services leave from the airport railway area in the Transportation Center on B1. The Express Train runs directly to Seoul Station with reserved seating; it is the simplest rail choice if Seoul Station is your destination. The All-Stop Train calls at stations along the way, including Gimpo Airport, Hongik University, and Gongdeok, so it can be more convenient for west and central Seoul. From Seoul Station, expect an onward subway or taxi ride to your hotel. Check the current departure time and ticket options on the official AREX site before walking to the platform, especially if you arrive close to the last train.

- Single-use ticket: ₩100 more than the card fare, plus a ₩500 deposit that you get back at the arrival station.
- Children (6–12) pay a reduced fare; children under 6 ride free (up to three per adult).
- Express Train timing (weekday timetable): the first train leaves Terminal 2 at 05:16 and Terminal 1 at 05:24; the last leaves Terminal 2 at 22:40 and Terminal 1 at 22:48. Terminal 1 to Seoul Station takes about 43 minutes.
- From October 23, 2026, AREX added four Express trains a day (56 in total), cutting the average gap between 11:00 and 18:00 from 39 to 35 minutes.

Option 2: Airport limousine bus
A limousine bus can save a transfer when its route stops near your hotel, but the route number matters: for example, the operator lists 6001 for Dongdaemun, Myeong-dong, Seoul Station and Sinyongsan, and 6015 for Myeong-dong, Chungjeong-ro, Gongdeok and Mapo. Search the current airport bus list using your hotel area rather than choosing by route number alone. At Terminal 2, Airport Limousine says passengers on its downtown routes must buy a ticket at the B1 counter or vending machine before boarding; policies can differ by operator and route, so follow the current sign and route page. Road traffic makes arrival time less predictable than the train.
Option 3: Taxi
A taxi is useful for several travelers with luggage, an address far from rail, or a late arrival after checking that public transport has stopped. Follow airport signs to the designated stand and do not accept unsolicited rides inside the terminal: Incheon Airport warns about illegal solicitation and overcharging. Confirm your destination and taxi type before departure. Use this quick decision process: (1) Check whether your flight arrives at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and how long baggage/immigration may take. (2) Search your hotel address in a map app and identify the nearest AREX station or airport-bus stop, not just the district name. (3) Compare the remaining train/bus service with your realistic time out of the terminal. Choose Express AREX for Seoul Station, All-Stop AREX for a direct rail connection to Hongik University or Gongdeok, a bus when its verified stop is close to the hotel, and an official taxi when the transfer burden or late hour makes public transport impractical.
